On May 14–15, 2026, a scientific and practical conference with international participation “Filatov Readings–2026: Current Issues in Ophthalmology” was held in Odessa, which has traditionally united leading ophthalmologists from around the world in the pursuit of high-quality professional dialogue.
The format of the event made it possible to take part in it both in person (offline) and remotely (online). The organizers of the conference were the State Institution “Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy named after V. P. Filatov of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” and the public organization “Society of Ophthalmologists of Ukraine”.
The program of the “Filatov Readings” was rich and included plenary and sectional meetings, satellite symposia, panel discussions, master classes, case marathons. The conference was attended by experienced specialists from different regions of Ukraine, as well as from Denmark, the USA, Spain, Australia, and Switzerland. Their reports, taking into account the realities and challenges of today, were devoted, in particular, to the following urgent topics:

current state of European corneal banks and transplantation;

keratoplasty, vitrectomy in severe combat injuries of the eye;

management of patients with glaucoma in wartime;
-
retinopathy of premature babies;
-
modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of bacterial keratitis;
-
clinical cases of eyelid reconstruction after mine and blast injury;
-
errors in the diagnosis and treatment of uveitis;
-
experience in the treatment of malignant epithelial neoplasms of the eyelids;
-
integration of innovations and AI solutions into clinical practice.
In addition, a joint meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Ophthalmic Trauma was held, which discussed rehabilitation after injuries to the anterior and posterior segments of the eye, oculoplastic injuries, and traumatic glaucoma. The master classes were held in the format of trainings on mastering practical skills and mastering modern approaches to the management of ophthalmic patients. As part of the scientific and practical conference, an exhibition of modern medicines, medical devices, and specialized publications was held. The company "Vizus Pharm" also participated in it, presenting its products at the stand. Our employees had the opportunity to hear what the ophthalmological community of Ukraine is experiencing today: what clinical challenges doctors face, how approaches to patient management are changing, and what solutions are becoming the most effective in daily practice.
