CITIZIN is a dietary supplement with sweetener, citicoline (Cognizin®), vitamins A, C, E, biotin, B vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B12), and black currant extract in single-dose sachets. Ready for peroral use.
Can be used as a dietary supplement to the usual diet for an additional source of anthocyanins, citicoline, vitamins A, C, E, biotin, B vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B12).
The product helps maintain the structural characteristics of nerve cells (for example, retinal ganglion cells and photoreceptors) and their metabolism, which is highly important for the efficiency of visual processes.
Cannot be used as a substitute for a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Vitamins properties
Vitamins C, B1, B2, B6, B12, and biotin ensure the normal functioning of the nervous system.
Vitamin A helps maintain the visual ability.
Vitamins C and E help protect cells from oxidative stress.
Black currant supports microcirculation.
Citicoline function (Cognizin®)
Citicoline (citizin diphosphocholine, or CDF-choline) is a mononucleotide produced by the body from choline as an intermediate metabolite in the synthesis of the phospholipids of the cell membrane. Peroral doses of citicoline are rapidly absorbed and then hydrolyzed in the intestinal wall and liver as choline and citizin. Citizin is metabolized as uridine, crosses the blood-brain barrier, and then is converted to citizin triphosphate (CTP). Free choline is phosphorylated to phosphocholine, which combines with CTF to re-form citicoline in the central nervous system, where it:
• acts as an intermediate metabolite in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine and sphingomyelin, increasing the levels of the latter and reducing their circulation;
• restores cardiolipin — a phospholipid component of the inner mitochondrial membrane, necessary for the transport of electrons, presumably by inhibiting the hydrolysis of the enzyme due to phospholipase A2;
• increases the level of some important neurotransmitters that are choline donors in the biosynthesis of acetylcholine, amplifying its level in the hippocampus and neocortex and increasing the level of dopamine in the striatum by enhancing the activity of tyrosine hydroxylase, and inhibits dopamine reuptake in the nervous system;
• reduces the activity of cerebral glutamate, increasing the expression of the type 2 amino acid transporter, thus counteracting the deposition of beta-amyloid and increasing the number of oligodendrocyte precursors.
